Last week I posted another LinkedIn poll to see what was the most popular infrastructure model choice for ROBO locations and HCI took the crown by a solid margin.
I am personally not surprised since hyperconverged infrastructure has come a long way and it is able to provide all the requirements a company is looking for in their remote sites (datacenter too, but that is a separate conversation!).
HCI is nowadays very simple to deploy/maintain, provides plenty of performance, easy scalability in case those remotes sites start to grow, enterprise grade resiliency/redundancy (make sure it is configured right!), and most importantly, it will probably cost the same or less than any other solution being considered.
This poll opens the door for a few conversations, specially since there are many vendors that are trying to perfect and grow the HCI products. What is your preferred technology for HCI?
