VCF Edge licensing is one of those VMware licensing models that has evolved over time. It originally launched with a minimum requirement of 25 edge sites, which made it difficult for many organizations to justify, but Broadcom later reduced that requirement to 10 sites in response to customer feedback.
VCF Edge is not a “lite” version of full blown VCF licensing. Broadcom positions it as an optimized licensing and deployment model for edge locations, while still providing the core VCF software stack.
Let’s break down the current requirements, limitations and design considerations so you can determine if VCF Edge is the right fit for your environment.
VCF-E Licensing Requirements and Limitations
- Minimum of 10 edge sites for the organization to be able to purchase this licensing
- You have up to 1-year to fulfill this requirement, according to Broadcom
