VMware Cloud Foundation 9

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 has been officially announced during the VMware Explore 2024 keynote!

But what are some of the core differences for this new version?

  • Simplified deployment, operation and consumption
  • Redesigned from scratch to avoid the legacy debt from multiple products stitched together
  • Enhanced AI integration with NVidia (features like vGPU profiles, reservations, data indexing and retrieval service, AI agent builder service will be available out of the box)
  • Expanded VCF import capabilities (combine, standardize and manage all your VMware clouds from a single console)
  • Advanced memory tiering with NVMe (reduce your memory cost per GB/TB by leveraging unused storage capacity as a secondary memory tier)
  • Integrated VCF Multi-Tenancy (integrated VCF director functionality out of the box for multi BU/org purposes)
  • Native VPC Deployment (Cloud like flexibility empowered by vDefend suite and NSX Advanced Load Balancers)
  • Unified VCF Security Management (streamlined secured deployments with plenty of configuration checks in place)
  • Advancing Cyber Threat Prevention (distributed IDS and IPS features will help optimize the security strategy throughout)
  • Native vSAN-to-vSAN Data Protection with deep snapshots (Snapshots are still not a replacement for backups, however, having an immutable snapshot option to quickly restore your workloads can exponentially improve your RTO/RPO SLAs)
  • Self-service cloud portal (provisioning services from a single console for both, operations and automation)
  • Free Digital Learning and Instructor-led Training for VCF customers (unlimited access to the comprehensive VCF library)
  • New VMware Cloud Foundation Certification (acquire the skills that are on-demand for enterprises today)

In my opinion, this move is highly appealing to enterprises looking for a flexible, efficient, and scalable cloud solution. It truly highlights Broadcom’s commitment to innovating within the VMware ecosystem by making it easier for organizations to manage and optimize their current environments.

What can VCF provide and deliver today though? See below for yourself.
