What is LACP Timer?

By no means do I consider myself a network engineer, but this week was the first time that I head the term “LACP Timer” and I was curious to find out what that really meant. Turns out that on Cisco gear, the default timeout for the timer is set to 30 seconds, however, you can switch this value to 1 second to enable what is considered a “Fast” timer. This timeframe defines how often the devices that are part of this port-channel exchange LACP protocol data units or control messages.

Do not ask me to perform the change on your switches, however, at least now you know the meaning if you ever have to work with a vendor/product that requires it.
